Join me this summer on my journey to discuss feminism in the literary world while enjoying some of Vancouver’s best Caesars and patios!
Talkin’ Clam Lit
You’re sitting out on a patio on a hot summer’s day, sipping that brew of clam broth, tomato juice and spirits topped with pickled goodness. (Note: If there are no edible garnishes, it isn’t a caesar!) What could be better than this? SMASHING THE PATRIARCHY BY LISTENING TO YOUR SMARTEST, GLAMMEST WRITER FRIENDS, THAT’S WHAT.
Ohhhh Canada. Our country sits on a throne of colonialism, capitalism and patriarchy. Our literary community is a great example of this terrifying, unjust power dynamic. Help me celebrate the 150th of Canada by making space for the voices we need to hear, all while enjoying the weirdest, tastiest, most Canadian concoction that ever existed—The Caesar.
This summer, I will meet up with strong, wonderful writers who identify as women, trans*, gender-variant, two-spirit women, and women of non-binary sexual orientations in my community for a patio caesar (alcoholic or nonalcoholic) to talk about our projects, experiences, voice, and space in the literary world.
This blog and these spaces in which I meet with writers takes place on the unceded territories of the Squamish Musqueam and Tseil-Waututh First Nations.
